Hispanic Heritage month is September 15 - October 15.
Tell us about a famous Hispanic. What is his/her area of expertise (music, film, sports,politics etc.)? What are his/her most notable accomplishments?
Miguel de Cervantes was a famous writer from Spain. He wrote the book called Don Quijote. Don Quijote is a story about a man who went on crazy adventures and it is up to the reader to decide if he has gone mad or if he is just ill. He had a side kick, Sancho Panza, who isn't too bright. The two of them always get into trouble. In one adventure, Don Quijote thought that an inn was a castle and he asked the owner to dub him a knight and Sancho Panza became his squire. Together, they went on adventures to do knightly things like finding a maiden and fighting off giants (which are really windmills!).

George Lopez is famous for being a good american comedian and a late night talk show host on lopez tonight. He has been a comedian and on tv since 1990. He is married to Ann Serrano and plans on running for Mayor in Los Angeles. He has been in film and on tv on 29 shows and movies. He has been in stand up comedy, books and on the radio.
ReplyDeleteShakira is famous for being an singer and has a beautiful voice.She got her first record when she was 13 for pop in columbia.Shakira was engaged to the son of the president of Columbia for 7 to 8 years. She was feature in Beyonce songs an multiple others.
ReplyDeleteRoberto Clemente was a Puerto Rican, Major League Baseball right fielder. Clemente played in the MLB for 18 years, spending all his years with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1955-1972). In 1966 he was awarded the League's MVP award (Most Valuable Player). He participated in 12 league All-Star games, and won 12 golden glove awards. Clemente is also the first Hispanic player to win a World Series as a starter (1960), and too win a World Series MVP award (1971). Clemente died December 31, 1972 at the age 38. He died a baseball legend.
ReplyDeleteThe famous hispanic I choose was Jairo Penaranda.He was born on June 15, 1958.Penaranda is know for being a great running back in the Nfl. He played for 2 different teams whitch are the Rams and the Eagles. His accomplishment was winning the Nfl rookie of the year. Penaranda won this award with the Rams in 1981. Jairo Penaranda stayed in the league form 1981 to 1985.
ReplyDeleteThe famous Hispanic I chose was Sonia Sotomayor. Sonia was raised in proverty, she was very poor. Sonia was very smart she attended college at Yale and Princeton. She also worked as a prosecutor and she was a lawyer in private practice. Sonia was nominated to the federal bench in 1991, and then became the first Hispanic justice and third woman on the US Supreme Court in 2009.

Alexander Emmanuel Rodriguez was born on July 27, 1975 in New York City, New York. He was a baseball player for many years. In fact, while alex played people started to call him A-rod becuase he was so good.

The famous hispanic is Carlos Joauquin Ruiz. Carlos Ruiz was born January 22,1979. He plays for the Philadelphia Phillies. He goes by the nickname cooch. Carlos was called up from the phillies minor league team in 2004. He started fort the phillies in 2005.Three years later he went on to be apart of the phillies world series.
ReplyDeleteSelena Quintanilla-Prez was born on April 16, 1971 in Lake Jackson, Texas but she was mostly known as Selena. Selena was a Mexican-American singer, she was named the "Top Latin artist of the 90s" and "Best selling Latin artist of the decade". She was murdered at 23 by the president of her own fan club on March 31,1995.
ReplyDeleteCarlos Joaquín Ruiz was born on January 22, 1979. Ruiz was playing baseball since 2004. Ruiz was playing catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies since May 2006. Over the years he picked up the nickname "Chooch". Currently, Ruiz is still playing catcher for the Phillies.

ReplyDeleteDemmetria Devone Lovato, known as "Demi Lovato" was born on August 20, 1992 in Dallas, Texas. She is of Mexican, Irish, and Italian descent. Demi is a singer, songwriter, musician, and actress. Demi has starred in shows in movies such as Camp Rock, Barney & Friends, & Princess Protection Program. One of Demi's most amazing accomplishments is having her own TV show called "Sonny With A Chance" Demi is no longer doing her TV show, she is just focusing on her music career.
ReplyDeleteAlbert Pujols is the famous hispanic I have chose, to talk about. Albert is the first baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals. Pujols, is one of only 3 players in baseball history, to have a batting average over .300, 30 home runs, and 100 RBI in his first ten seaons. Some have said Pujols is one of the greatest players of all time. As of right now, Pujols is still the first baseman for the Cardinals and is having a hall of fame career.
