Hispanic Heritage month is September 15 - October 15.
Tell
us about a famous Hispanic. What is his/her area of expertise (music,
film, sports,politics etc.)? What are his/her most notable
accomplishments?
Miguel de Cervantes was a famous writer from Spain. He wrote the book called Don Quijote.
Don Quijote is a story about a man who went on crazy adventures and it
is up to the reader to decide if he has gone mad or if he is just ill.
He had a side kick, Sancho Panza, who isn't too bright. The two of
them always get into trouble. In one adventure, Don Quijote thought
that an inn was a castle and he asked the owner to dub him a knight and
Sancho Panza became his squire. Together, they went on adventures to
do knightly things like finding a maiden and fighting off giants (which
are really windmills!).

Victor Cruz is wide receiver for the New York Giants. He has been on the team since 2010. His career highlights and awards are a 1 time Second-team All-Pro selection in 2011, Super Bowl champion XLVI, First-team All-CAA in 2008 and 2009, tied record for longest touchdown reception (99 yards against the New York Jets, December 24, 2011), and New York Giants single season receiving yardage leader with 1,536 yards. So far this season, he has had 17 receptions, 237 yards, 1 touchdown, and averages 13.9 yards per carry.
ReplyDeleteRamon Luis Ayala Rodriguez, also known as Daddy Yankee, is a Spanish singer. As a teenager, he wanted to be a professional baseball player. He tried out for the Seattle Mariners. Before the team could sign him, he was hit by a bullet in his hip during a break from recording music with DJ Playero. After being in the hospital for a year and a half, the bullet was never removed. He then put all of his time to making music. Two of his most popular songs are Barrio Fino and Gasolina.

His best attributes are his speed, power and agility.In 2003 he received his first MVP award, most valuable player award and, at 27 years, 249 days, became the youngest player ever to hit 300 career home runs. Also from 1996 to 2006, he lead the MLB in home runs, runs scored, runs batted in, total bases and extra base hits.
ReplyDeleteGloria Estefan is a Cuban singer. She was born on September 1, 1957 in Havana, Cuba. She is one of the most famous Spanish people to have found incredible success in the USA. She has a lot of talents mostly singing but she also did acting and she wrote poetry. Releasing in 1984 her first English-language album, "Eyes of Innocence,". In September 2007, the Gloria Estefan Cuba connection became very easy to see in the release of "90 Millions," her 29th album. This album has 14 tracks which pay tribute to the music of her native land.
ReplyDeleteRitchie Valens was a Mexican singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is most famous for his hit single ''La Bamba''. However, his career only lasted eight months due to his death. Valens died in a plane crash on February 3, 1959, which is also known as ''The Day the Music Died''. Valens was introduced to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
ReplyDeleteActor and comedian George Lopez was born April 23, 1961 in Mission Hills, California. Abandoned by his mother, he used his painful experiences as material for his stand up comedy. By the late 1980s, Lopez was playing clubs around the country and appearing on television shows and comedy specials. Lopez received a kidney transplant in 2005. He is currently regarded as a top comedian.

ReplyDeleteCarlos Santana is a famous guitarist from Mexico. He first began playing the violin at the age of five and later learned to play guitar at the age of eight. Santana would move to America with his family and be accepted into three colleges, all of which he turned down to play guitar. Santana is known internationally for his unique style of playing guitar. He has received many rewards for his playing and he has his name on the Hollywood walk of fame.

A few months later she was signed by a agent. Jessica started her acting career in 1993 when she was in a movie called Camp Nowhere. She then showed up on commercials for j.c. Penny and nintendo. After that she stared in her first tv show called The Secret Life of Alex Mack. After that her career skyrocketed with nothing but success for her.

Gomez is currently playing for the Montreal Canadiens of the NHL.In Gomez's rookie season he scored 70pts with 19 goals and 51 assists. He won the Calder Trophy as the leagues best rookie.Gomez has a recorded 686pts in his career. He has won 2 Stanley Cups in his 12 year career. Gomez is the top Hispanic scorer currently in the NHL.
ReplyDeleteSelena Quintanilla Perez was a Mexican-American singer born Lake Jackson,Texas. In 1987, Selena won the Best Female Vocalist award at the Tejano Music Awards. Because of her success she was named "The Queen of Tejano Music". Two years later, the former manager of Sony Music Latin, signed her with Capitol/EMI Records. Selena Perez has won many awards such as Best Mexican-American Album at the 36th Grammys and Best Latin Artist at the Billboard awards. Her life came to a end when she was murdered by her fan club manager Yolonda Saldivar.
